Muhlenberg county was formed in 1799. It is located in the Western
Coal Field
region of the state. The elevation in the county ranges from 355 to 760
feet above sea
level. In 1990 the county population was 31,318 in a land area of 474 square
miles, an average of 66.1 people per square mile.
The county seat is Greenville.
